El Sistema is a unique music education program, founded in Venezuela. Venezuelan educator, musician, activist José Antonio Abreu believed the power of music help change young peoples' lives. He also thought that an orchestra is the best example of how to teach young people the values and the necessities of living in society itself.
He started an after-school classical music programme for street kids in Caracas in 1975. Now El Sistema has spread to all over the world, and it has produced many young artists. In Japan, El Sistema Japan was founded after 2011 Tōhoku earthquake. Their activities are introdeced in those books.
